‘The real driver of creativity is an appetite for discovery and a passion for the work itself. When students are motivated to learn, they naturally acquire the skills they need to get the work done. Their mastery of them grows as their creative ambitions expand. You’ll find evidence of this process in great teaching in every discipline from football to chemistry.’ Sir Ken Robinson
‘Your commitment and willingness to help in the education of young people is very much appreciated. Education, business and society in general have a great deal to gain from forging such partnerships’
Jackie Holmes, Head of Work Related Learning,
St Benedict’s Catholic High School
TAKING YOUR STUDENTS TO A LIVE THEATRE PRODUCTION?
Playbox Theatre presents a lively programme of high-quality theatre every year in our state-of-the-art building in Warwick. In 2017, the programme includes Finn Kennedy’s Lift Raft, the classic Greek tragedy Medea and for Christmas, the spectacular musical The Wizard of Oz. We are also excited to be touring Monkey and Story of a Jaguar & the Old Old World to primary schools across 2017.
For students studying GCSE or A/AS Level Drama & Theatre Studies, we know watching and critiquing live performance is an important part of their understanding and development. We offer pre- and post-show engagement activities including panels and Q&As with the creative team, director and cast, behind-the-scenes tours and workshops based on some of the techniques and processes used during rehearsals. We also offer great group rates and resource packs for teachers.
EDUCATION
With a wealth of professional directors and facilitators, we offer a wide and varied range of workshops, performances, events and activities to inspire, inform and educate young people, placing paramount focus upon the individual.
Our critically-acclaimed, professional performances with young casts offers unique opportunities for peer groups to better access, understand and appreciate literature, language, history and culture.
Our passion for striving to bring out the best in every young person we work with is reflected in the breadth of experience and tailor-made opportunities offered by our outreach and education team. In the past we have worked with playgroups, primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, community centres, nursing homes, Scouts and Guides Associations, literary festivals, teacher training conferences, and education researchers, both in the UK and abroad.
We look forward to working with you to inspire young minds!
