SHAKESPEARE

YOUNG COMPANY

Shakespeare Young Company is now in its 11th year at Playbox Theatre, bringing a specialised focus for young people interested in developing their confidence, skills and techniques to perform in the plays of Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

When accepted in to SYC, the ensemble train in a range of vocal and physical techniques, participate in the Shakespeare Lab, create productions for a variety of theatre, outdoor venues and tours. In 2018 SYC and Playbox Theatre created a joint production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream which will play in the US as well as the UK. SYC is thrilled to have introduced so many young people to the plays and the many techniques of staging them in the 21st Century.

SYC is divided into a series of ensembles. ‘Pucks’ provides a thorough introduction to younger actors followed by graduation into the SYC companies.
